How it all started...
Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church was started by Pastor Martin White in 1985. Over the following few years, the Lord ministered through Pastor White's Christ-centered and extremely practical style of preaching and the church began to outgrow the conference room they were renting. In 1989, Lighthouse purchased a small church building on North Winton Road and remained at this beloved location for the next 20 years as the church continued to prosper and souls were saved.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor White had a strong burden for foreign missions and had even gone on several missions trips to multiple countries. In 2003, while on a trip to Mongolia, he surrendered to resign his pastorate in America and return to Mongolia as a missionary with his wife, Beth, and his two youngest daughters. They remained on the field for the next 5 years until the Lord brought them back to the States. Soon after, Pastor White was called home to glory. As a result of his vision and service to the Lord, Lighthouse continues to have an ongoing missions emphasis.
Following Pastor White's resignation as pastor, the church prayerfully selected James Gugino as the new Senior Pastor. A passionate and extremely knowledgeable student of the Bible, Dr. Gugino had previously served as the assistant pastor of Lighthouse as well as the dean and primary teacher of the church's Bible Institute. Through his powerful preaching and in-depth teaching, the Lord used Pastor Gugino immensely to help the church grow in their knowledge of the Savior and His Word.
As the church continued to increase in members, it was soon realized that a new facility would be required. In 2009, the Lord brought us to the current facility in Webster, NY. With nearly 20,000 square feet on more than 4 acres of land, the new location provides ample room for ministry and fellowship.
After 14 years of faithful and loving service as Senior Pastor, the Lord redirected Pastor Gugino. The church prayerfully sought the Lord's guidance for a new pastor, and He soon brought Pastor Jack Young and his family to Lighthouse. Well-read and passionate about souls, Pastor Young became the senior pastor at Lighthouse in March of 2018. Under Pastor Young's leadership, we are continuing to see God work and we are excited to see what He has planned for Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in the years to come.
