The Albany Project

In 1782, the first American Bible was printed with the approval of Congress and their recommendation of that Bible to all Americans. Prior to the Revolutionary War England would not allow the English Bible to be printed in the Colonies because they had copyrights on the KJV Bible causing the colonies to purchase all copies of Scripture from England. Printer Robert Aitken approached Congress seeking permission to print this now-historical document, therefore, the printing thereof was another form of rebellion.
In February of 2025, NYBBV is planning a day in the State Capitol where the New York State legislators can view an original copy of the Aitken Bible (KJV) and receive a copy of this historical document. We need to get the Scriptures into the offices of the legislators and providing them a copy of this historical document will allow us to do just that.

Here's How you can Help:

There are 213 New York State legislators, Assemblypersons and Senators. The cost per copy of the Aitken Bible is $100, meaning the price will be $21,300. This would not include the cost of shipping or the cost of the facilities at the Capitol. We will need to raise the funds from Churches and individuals to complete the Albany Project.
If a church can purchase 10 Bibles and individuals could purchase 1 or more we can reach our goal of having the funds by October 31, 2024. This time frame will allow us to order the Bibles and have them shipped to New York.
Would you and could you help with getting the Scriptures into the Legislator's offices.

The Event:

I presently have legislators helping us to set up the location in the Capitol. The presentation of this historical document will be on a Tuesday prior to the legislative session. At that time, we will have legislators present, an original Aitken Bible (printed 1782), and the presentation of Bibles for the legislators. It would be wonderful to have God's people from across the State to be there to present their legislator with their copy.
